This new collaboration of Jakub Šimanský and Jiří Štěpán is sort of happy coincidence. They are both active musicians, both coming from different background and performing in within slightly different scenes. Jakub Šuminaský has been cultivating his guitar playing based on the echoes of american primitive guitar style. Bas player Jiří Štěpán is active in his group Národní Divadlo, which steer towards free improvised and dissonant music.

They both met at their day job for book publishing house Host. After being just colleagues from work for a couple years, they decided to jam and record their efforts and that's how their debut recording called “Z Druhé Strany” (From the Other Side) happened. Their music blends two different approaches to music, both of them inspires each other. Abstract dissonant wilderness here meets more prepared outsider psychedelic guitar, but this time Šimanský does not play it nic. This feels like long night on a lonely bus station with no bus to take you home in sight.

Album is released in edition of 100 copies.

Nové hudební spojení Jakuba Šimanského a Jiřího Štěpána je tak trochu malou šťastnou náhodou. Oba dva jsou aktivní muzikanti, každý v trochu jiné sféře. Jakub Šimanský roky a roky kultivuje a posouvá svoji kytarovou hru založenou na ozvěnách amerického primitivismu. Basista Jiří Štěpán je zase aktivní v avantgardním tělesu Národní Divadlo, které odkazuje k historii volné improvizace a hudební disonance.

Oba se sešli v útrobách brněnského nakladatelství Host, kde pracují a po pár letech známosti se konečně sešli i na zkušebně. Vznikla tak nahrávka “Z druhé strany”, která v Říjnu vyjde u vydavatelství Stoned to Death. Kloubí se na ní dvojice hudebním přístupů, vzniká však velmi koherentní a vskutku unikátní celek, ve kterém se snoubí abstraktní divočina typická pro free improv s disonantní a osamělou kytarovou psychedelií, ovšem tentokrát bez příkras a selánek. Tohle je dlouhá noc na opuštěném autobusovém nádraží strávená čekáním na první ranní autobus, která ne a ne přijet.

Album vychází digitálně a na kazetách v edici 100 ks.
